HYUNDAI HAS REAFFIRMED its commitment to hydrogen cars, revealing the second generation of its Nexo fuel cell SUV.
Based on 2024’s lithium concept, it introduces a new “Art of Steel” design language to distinguish the brand’s future FCEV(Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle).
Key features include the grid-shaped “H-two” front and rear lights and H-shaped surfaces on the front and rear bumpers. As well as a radically different design from its predecessor, the new Nexo is longer, taller and broader, positioning it as an alternative to battery-powered EVs such as the BMW iX3 and Tesla Model Y.
The Nexo receives the same connected cockpit dashboard as the Ioniq 5,with pa pair of 12.3 inch display Traditional side mirrors are replaced by cameras.
The second-generation Nexo houses a completely reworked powertrain. its fuel cell stack’s electrical output has been increased by 16% to 10kW and the battery is maximum output doubled to 80kW.Power from the electric motor is boosted by 40bhp to 20bhp.
The hydrogen tank has grown to 6.69kg, which, in combination with the more efficient powertrain boosts the range beyond 435 miles.
Hyundai said the new car will appear in market by this year or early next year.
