Skoda has given the new Elroq crossover, its smallest electric car, a performance variant. The Elroq vs receives a number of improvements, including a 52bhp bump in power to 335bhp and a stiffened chassis, plus notable design changes. That extra punch comes from the same dual-motor powertrain as in the related Volkswagen ID 4 GTX and means the Elroq vRS can dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in 5.4sec – 1.2sec faster than the regular Elroq.

Skoda claimed the stiffened chassis, sharper steering and lowered suspension (about15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear) combine to create a “sportier driving feel”. More powerful front While the Elroq vRS can be distinguished from the standard Elroq by a new roof rail, black accents and 21in alloy wheels, it’s the
new ‘Sport’ and ‘Futuristic’ selectable exterior sounds that will be most noticeable to passers-by.
Given the Elroq vs’s range-topping billing, the level of standard kit has been raised. It includes LED matrix headlights, heated front seats, a 12-speaker sound system and an electric tailgate. while Dynamic Chassis Control (meaning adaptive dampers) is an option. The usual 5in digital cockpit and 13in central infotainment touchscreen remain, but are given.
The Elroq vs draws its energy from the same 84 kWh battery pack as The Elroq 85, but its extra performance and bigger wheels cost it 20 miles of range, at 340 miles. The battery can be charged at speeds of up to 170 kw. Pricing for the Elroq vs has yet to be announced, but it is expected to cost marginally more than the standard Elroq’s top-end price of £41,600. UK deliveries are due to Start this summer.
